Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, in his youth Ser Barristan was known as Barristan the Bold. His commitment to his oath is unyielding and under the former king, Aerys, he never wavered in his pledge to protect the Targaryens. After taking the throne, Robert Baratheon pardoned him and promoted him to lead the Kingsguard.
